Daniel Chalifour was born in St-Jérôme on December 9, 1971. He grew up in the Ste-Thérèse de Blainville area where at the age of about six years old, he was diagnosed as being visually impaired. At 25, Daniel moved to the Lac-des-Écorces region but he has been living in Mont-Laurier since 2011. He discovered para-cycling by a mere coincidence at the end of the summer of 2005. Following that fateful summer, Daniel started to train himself on an old stationary bike. Being a trained musician, Daniel quickly transferred the same discipline that guided his violin practices to his new found passion. This was an excellent decision, as cycling has allowed Daniel to experience sports events throughout the world, such as the Paralympic Games and the World Championships. Since 2007, with only a few exceptions, Daniel's tandem teammate has been Alexandre Cloutier from St-Antoine de Tilly.
